On October 9, 2023, and in the presence of Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing Dr. Agrin Abdullah, Deputy Supervisor of Zakho Independent Administration Engr. Mohammed Tawfiq, President of ACI-KURDISTAN Chapter Dr. Omar Q. Aziz ,and Chairman of ACI Students Chapter Committee Dr. Barham, Vice Presidents, Deans, Heads of Departments of the university, Public Institutions ,and with many other parties, the establishment ceremony of ACI Student Chapter was held at the University of Zakho.

The program included a variety of insightful talks, engaging and interactive presentations, setting the stage for the academic success of the university’s satff and students. Additionally, this chapter is composed of the President of the Chapter Mrs. Seevar D. Salah-Al-Din and 16 members, who are students of th university.

The Chapter's mission is to advance the American Concrete Institute's ACI statutory goals, increase technical practice and knowledge of concrete, encourage scientific research and education, and foster networking among experts in the concrete industry, academia, and students.

As a result, the name of Zakho City has been included on the world map through University of Zakho Student Chapter.
